AKA My Date With Hello Cheetle.
Helloooo Cheetle! These girls Amber and Brit have been courting me since before the madness began. They run a bomb ass radio show, Hello Cheetle on BFF.fm every Friday night 6-8. I was supposed to hang out with the two of them one night but that pesky Independence holiday came up so they decided to have a BBQ and invited me.
Before we get in too deep, I’m sure you’re wondering as I was myself, what the hell is a Cheetle?
Cheetle (n.) - A girl who does what she wants; a curious creep; a mischief maker who appreciates oddities and adventure.
BAM. Use it. I’m a Cheetle. It’s now in my vocabulary and it should be in yours.
I tried to get a date for this BBQ but so many things fell through, 4 to be exact. I ended up bringing my little sister because I thought it would be cool for her to meet some awesome ladies who have a passion in something a little less traditional. We walk in the door, greeted by Amber. We set down my Bacon Apple Pie (yes, I bake things from scratch) and head to the backyard. There’s a just few people but it’s not long before the place fills up. The girls are recording a live show playing whatever the guests have brought. In their yard space theres a bunch of maequin legs and strung up baby dolls. It’s a little creepy but silly fun creepy.
Amber and Brit had invited Summer Twins, a sister duo from Riverside that make you feel like sipping lemonade in your wedges…you might be wearing a leather jacket as well. I can’t stop listening, their album is playing while I’m writing this and it’s amaaaaazzzing. I’m girl crushing hard. Hopefully these girls will be able to play for you all when the meet up happens.
The whole party was filled with so much good energy, everyone was so nice and welcoming. There were so many musicians and it made me really happy to be a part of such an amazing city. I liked the people there so much I left the party with a full dance card.
